Health Education England:

Adult Safeguarding

Summary

Overview of case study

Health Education England (HEE) exists for one reason only: to support the delivery of excellent healthcare and health improvement to the patients and public of England by ensuring that the workforce of today and tomorrow has the right numbers, skills, values and behaviours, at the right time and in the right place.

Step 1

What was the objective?

Health Education England were producing a MOOC (massive open online course) delivering training for Level 3 Adult Safeguarding and needed dramatic video content to run through the course.

Step 2

What solution did we offer?

We worked closely with the HEE team, distilling disparate ideas into a single treatment featuring a post-mortem investigation meeting between multidisciplinary colleagues. This efficiently fitted the budget, ticking off all of the learning points and creating a compelling narrative that spilled wider than just the videos - as it formed the backbone of a structure that ran through the entire course.

Step 3

What was the outcome?

The MOOC was launched on January 27th 2020 with over 6000 (83%) of those who registered measured as active learners. Fully participating learners were measured as 56%. “All videos are lively, accurate, informative, full lengthy discussion” was one piece of feedback from a user. The course is the HEE’s first MOOC and is deemed to be a great success, not only in terms of the user response, but also in how quickly and efficiently it was created from a blank page, thanks to a great team chosen and steered by the formidable Alison Potter. For a more in-depth look at this production go here. Because this MOOC is designed to work with on tap support, more launches are planned for 18th May 2020, 6th July 2020 and 7th September 2020.  Access to the MOOC is free here: https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/level-3-safeguarding-adults
