Step 1

What was the objective?

Health Education England, North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust, South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, supported by Association of Ambulance Chief Executives, joined together to produce the first ever Mental Health Education for Ambulance Services Conference. The aim of the project was to provide ambulance service staff with a greater level of awareness of mental health issues and how best to respond to those experiencing a crisis.  The team approached Nice Media for support to maximise the reach and effectiveness of the initiative. The collaboration with Nice Media represents an impactful, forward-thinking approach that would exceed the initial aims of the project.

Step 2

What solution did we offer?

The Mental Health Education for Ambulance Services Conference took place on 27th October 2022 and Nice Media were brought on board to provide audio-visual and video production services. This project overlaps with the 'Responding to a Mental Health Crisis' video drama series project which was premiered at the conference. The solution included the design and production of a conference website which hosted the live stream of the conference for virtual attendees . The website is now also host to the recorded sessions. The multi-camera shoot at the conference was mixed live with a vision mixer and this 'cut' was recorded, meaning that high quality assets from throughout the whole day, across three different streams, were captured for future, longer-term distribution and viewing. Finally, Nice managed the production of a live theatre session. This was a play about eating disorders (a largely misunderstood area of mental health).

What was the outcome?

The conference was attended by approximately 150 in-person attendees and 250 virtual attendees. The content generated from the event will be available to more than 50,000 Ambulance staff, across a number of Trusts. This includes more than 22,000 (plus) paramedics.  In addition, the content will be hosted on the NHS Learning Hub for another other healthcare staff who have an interest in mental health.

Testimonials

What our clients say

Both in the lead up to the conference and on the day, Nice Media displayed a ‘can do’ attitude. When things needed to change quickly, they worked with us to ensure we were able to provide a full and interesting package for those in attendance and viewing on-line.
